AtWatersEdgeWe hope you can join us tomorrow, Thursday, June 9, 2016 for the meeting of the All Good Books club. We’ll discuss Sara Gruen’s At the Water’s Edge. Gruen is the author of Water for Elephants which we read and discussed back in November 2006. By the way, At the Water’s Edge is the 175th book that the club has read and discussed together!

We’ll meet at the Community of Christ Mission Road Congregation (7842 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS) in the Church Library.

  1. What is the source ad meaning of the novel’s title, At the Water’s Edge?
  2. Describe your initial impression of Ellis, Maddie, Hank and Angus. How did your view of each character change during the novel?
  3. Who was the better parent? Maddie’s mother or father?
  4. The novel describes wartime (World War II) Scotland. What was wartime like in the United States? What similarities and differences do you think existed?
